Orchestrated by God: How Humans’ Obedience Turned a Small Town into a Revival Center

“Build a church with 3,000 seats.”—This was the divine mandate imprinted on the heart of a Christian lawyer who, 45 years ago, left the big city life behind to return to his small hometown, Sitiawan.

Though he had a faithful circle of intercessors standing with him in prayer, many viewed his vision as far too ambitious—his congregation then numbered no more than 200. Yet, what he did not realize was that his obedience, along with those who followed, was setting the stage for something far greater—helping to ignite and spread the flames of revival, not just in Malaysia, but beyond.

A Vision Beyond Understanding

In Perak, there wasn’t even a single church that could seat 1,000 people, let alone 3,000. This made Pastor Daniel Phua often wonder—why did Elder Nga build a church of such massive scale? The congregation was small, and in 2016, there was no logical reason for such an ambitious endeavor. Yet, Elder Nga had never heard of Dr John Sung’s vision for a 3,000-seater church—not until August 2023, seven years after the church building was completed. A Dream from 1940

On December 7, 1940, Dr. John Sung—the great evangelist—had a dream. A vision of a 3,000-seat church where miracles would take place. This prophecy remained hidden to Elder Nga for decades, only to be revealed at its appointed time.

But why 3,000?

The answer lies in Acts 2:41. After Christ’s resurrection, on the day of Pentecost, 3,000 souls were added to the faith in the first great mass conversion in history. This number was no coincidence—it was a divine pattern, a foreshadowing of revival.

Divine Timing & the Asbury Revival

Seven years after the Shekinah Methodist Church building was completed, the Asbury Revival erupted in USA. Pastor Daniel Phua—a former government servant in Singapore—set foot in Sitiawan for the first time, having been called back by God to Malaysia, and specifically to this small town. His arrival was no accident. That very same day (February 8th, 2024, the day that Asbury Revival broke out) was the same day that he and his team from Singapore began prayers, praying for people to retrace the Ancient Path (Jeremiah 6:16).

At the invitation of Pastor Daniel Phua, the Malaysian representative at Asbury, Rev. Leow, arrived at Sitiawan, and God asked Rev. Leow to make Shekinah Methodist Church his revival base whenever he is back in Malaysia. Month after month, Pastor Daniel Phua led intercessory groups and arranged for various revival meetings in Sitiawan, praying fervently for Malaysia’s revival, believing that this small town was chosen as a wellspring of awakening.And when Rev Raymond Mooi conducted miracle healing services that year, for the first time in history, the church overflowed with 2,500 people for a miracle service. It was that year Pastor Daniel Phua discovered and revealed to Elder Nga the dream of Dr. John Sung. The vision, once a mystery, now made sense—the 3,000-seater church was never about human ambition; it was about God’s divine plan, woven through time. As Pastor Jedidiah Poh of Asia Revival Center put it, this is a place dedicated to hosting revival meetings, where people from various parts of Malaysia and beyond come together, ignited by revival fire, and carry it back to their communities.

This was no mere coincidence—it was divine orchestration. What seemed like an impossible vision 45 years ago had now become part of a movement shaking nations.
