(Excerpt from a Mandarin video sharing of Rev Leow Hong Too)
In 2015, I was granted a full sabbatical from my duties at a local Bible seminary in Malaysia. During this time, I chose to go to Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky, as a visiting scholar. It was there that I began to receive a series of dreams and promptings from the Holy Spirit that would shape my ministry for years to come.
A Dream of Revival
On February 21, 2016, I had a vivid dream about a revival that would take place at Asbury Seminary. This dream marked the beginning of a new spiritual journey for me, one that would be centered around prayer and intercession for revival. By December 2017, I felt a clear call from God to return to Asbury, not just as a scholar but as an intercessor, dedicated to praying for the revival I had seen in my dream.
A Unique Ministry: The Signboard Evangelist
In 2020, I experienced a strong impression from the Holy Spirit to create and carry cardboard signs with messages inspired by God. These signboards, which I used as evangelistic tools, became a daily part of my life. For nearly two years, from June 2020 to May 2022, I faithfully walked the streets of Wilmore for about an hour each day, praying and proclaiming the messages written on my signboards. The messages were simple yet powerful, calling people to repentance and preparing the hearts of the community for the coming revival.

A Humble Departure
As 2023 approached, my wife and I planned to continue our ministry in Wilmore for one more year. However, God had different plans. I felt a strong prompting from the Lord to leave Wilmore and move to New York. When I questioned why, God revealed that if I stayed, I might become proud and take credit for the revival. “You will take credit,” God told me. “If you continue staying, the limelight will be upon you.” With this understanding, I obediently left for New York, trusting that the revival would come after my departure.
Witnessing the Revival
After I left, the revival I had prayed for began to manifest in powerful ways. Thousands of people were drawn to Asbury, experiencing an unending atmosphere of worship and prayer. People queued for hours to enter the chapel, some staying inside for up to ten hours, reluctant to leave the presence of God. Despite the official end of services at 11 PM, worship continued, with attendees expressing a deep hunger for more of God.
During a visit to the revival, I was deeply moved by what I witnessed. The presence of God was tangible, and the sight of people quietly praying and seeking God brought me to my knees. At that moment, I felt compelled to pray for the Chinese church, asking God to bring revival among them as well. I prayed that God would cause the Chinese churches to rise in intercession, to be in repentance, for revival, so that God’s Kingdom will come.
The Global Impact
The Asbury revival did not remain confined to Wilmore. Students from Asbury Seminary were invited to various churches across the United States, and the Holy Spirit moved powerfully in these places as well. My best friend reported that in just 11 churches visited by three Asbury students, the same spirit of revival was present, with people repenting and seeking God with tears. When the Holy Spirit is working in people’s lives, there is no need for an altar call.
I believe that this revival is the beginning of a great awakening, with all future revivals of this new season being linked to what started at Asbury Seminary.

Rev Dr Leow’s testimony is a powerful reminder that God often uses simple and humble acts of obedience to bring about profound spiritual change. His own journey, marked by obedience, humility, and a deep commitment to prayer, played a significant role in preparing the way for this move of God. To many, carrying hand-written cardboard signs in a very unsophisticated manner, hanging from the neck or held in hand, doesn’t seem to amount to much of a ministry. But, it was a Holy Spirit-led ministry. His ministry of carrying signboards and praying for revival in and around Asbury Seminary serves as an inspiration to all who long to see God move in their own communities.
