The following testimony was shared by Rev. Terence Jedidiah Poh in his sermon on December 23, 2023, titled “What is Revival?” as part of the School of Revival series in Asia Revival Centre. [1] The School of Revival, is a dynamic training program designed to raise up catalysts for revival. Through bible-based and prophetic teachings, students learn how to ignite revivals, hear the voice of God, operate in the prophetic, walk in Kingdom authority, and manifest the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit through activations and impartations.

Why is God going to use you to turn Malaysia upside down? Or turn your state upside down? Or turn your head the right side up? God chooses those who are hungry for Him and willing to be used. He doesn’t force His plans but looks for people who are open to partnering with Him.
About 15 or 16 years ago, I was serving as a missionary and part of a team that started a house of prayer in Penang. We had a huge world map on the wall, and I spent hours praying over nations. During one prayer session, I saw a vision of whirlwinds of fire over Southeast Asian countries. God told me He would “put feet to my prayers.” At the time, I didn’t fully understand, but I later understood that the places I prayed for were where He would send me. I eventually preached the same message of revival, in those nations, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia.
One day, a prophetess from Tennessee prophesied over me, comparing me to Moses climbing a mountain to meet God. I took her words seriously, as the Bible teaches not to despise prophecies (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21). Soon after, while spending time in prayer, I heard God’s audible voice like thunder. This was the third time in my life I had heard God audibly. He said, “Come up here.” Remembering the prophecy, I asked God which mountain He was calling me to climb.
Fourteen years ago (2010), I was moved to climb the 7400-foot Mount Murud, the highest mountain in Sarawak, known for angelic encounters. [1] In contrast to the commercialised Mount Kinabalu, Mount Murud remains untouched, with no tracks or steps—only dense tropical jungle. I encountered one of the pioneers of the Bario revival, an elderly man named Pak Tagal Paran, who cautioned me against attempting the climb alone, as I could get lost or get attacked by wild animals. Fortunately, Pak Tagal arranged for a guide, for whom I paid with all the money I had. Although I faced severe challenges—particularly with a metal plate in my right ankle from a past accident—I climbed the mountain, relying on God’s strength. As my ankle swelled with pain, I cried out to God. Whenever I stand for more than an hour, my ankle swells from the strain. Doctors even told me I’d never walk normally again. That was back in 2000. But during that time, I prayed and unknowingly spoke a prophecy over my future, saying, “Lord, if You heal my leg, I will climb mountains for You.” During my climb up Mount Murud, my ankle was severely swollen, and every step was agonizing. Despite the pain and the leeches draining my blood, God renewed my strength with each cry for help. When I reached the second stop, 2,000 feet up with 6,000 more to go, the pain was almost unbearable. My swollen ankle had stretched my boots to their limit. In desperation, I cried out, “Lord, You need to heal me.” I felt the Lord urging me to take one more step. As I obeyed, the swelling miraculously disappeared. Despite doctors’ predictions that I’d never walk or run again, I now can jump, run, and feel no pain in my ankle. I’m even treading on snakes and scorpions with my healed leg! All glory to God, our healer!
(Later, at a revival meeting in Selangor, there was a call for prayers to remove metal plates in bodies, and I stood up to receive that miracle. Remarkably, four screws in my ankle disappeared, although the metal plate remained. I used to feel the screws under my skin, but now they are gone. In His wisdom, God left the plate as a reminder of my past, similar to the thorn that remained on Paul’s side. It stands as a symbol of humility and the journey I’ve experienced.)
The climb took 18 hours, which included scaling steep, slippery terrains, facing leeches, and even hearing a panther nearby. But God protected and strengthened me through it all. When we finally reached the peak, a heavy rainstorm began, but only after we were safely inside a sanctuary built during the 1970s revival.
At the sanctuary, I had a powerful encounter with an angel. The angel was about nine feet tall, dressed in a tunic with a breastplate and sash, and radiating a glow that indicated it had just come from God’s throne room. This vision reminded me of how Moses’ face shone after his encounter with God. While I won’t detail the angel’s message, the essence is clear: it’s not about me, but about what God is set to do.
The following day, I visited the sanctuary again, which has been unoccupied for most of the time for nearly 30 years. Entering the sanctuary, rats and bats scattered away. I spent the day in worship, waiting for God to speak. That day, God revealed to me that 40 years after the 1984 revival on Mount Murud, a greater revival is coming in 2024. This revival will be more powerful than anything seen before, spreading across Malaysia and beyond.
God took me up Mount Murud not just for a personal encounter, but to understand the importance of spiritual portals and gates. Portals are spiritual gateways, and in the 70s and 80s, Mount Murud served as one such gateway where the fire of God was visibly present. Today, God is calling us to reopen these ancient gateways for a new move of His Spirit.
