宋尚节（1901-1944）一九零一年九月廿七，恰是农历辛丑年的中秋节，在福建省兴化县之一小村庄里，有位宋学连牧师家中，他们第六个孩子呱呱堕地了，这时正逢宋家之境最萧条，生活最贫寒的时代，这孩子的诞生可说又增加一分家中的困难，但因宋家有基督丰盛的生命，反把这初生的男孩赐以嘉名――主恩，这便是后来被视为“中国使徒”――宋尚节博士。

Rev Dr John Sung (1901-1944) On September 27, 1901, which was the Mid-Autumn Festival in the year of Xinchou on the lunar calendar, the sixth child was born in the home of Pastor Song Xuelian in one of the small villages in Xinghua County, Fujian Province. This was the time when the Song family was in its most depressed season and living in the poorest of times. The birth of this child could be said to have added another burden to the family’s difficulties, but due to the abundance of the life of Christ in the Song family, the newborn boy was given a commendable name: Lord’s Grace (主恩). This boy was Rev. Dr. John Sung, who was later regarded as the “Apostle of China.”

主仆人的日记是如何失去的？ 一九六六年文化大革命开始，我母亲的房间被北京中学生组织的红卫兵抄家。他们找到一九五八年法院寄给我姐姐天婴的判决书，其中提及她受帝国主义宗教荼毒太深，非长期思想改造不可，故判二十年徒刑。红卫兵除了给母亲十元、几件衣服、一些食物外，其余东西全部抄走，当然包括圣经和父亲全部的日记。红卫兵叫我主动把家中该上交的上交，我竟然把父亲到各处领会及在美留学的照片、各处信徒所写的蒙恩见证也交给红卫兵。那几天，我精神崩溃，几乎要死去。那么多的资料和照片竟被我送走，可见我当时的心灵的光景是多么的低落、可怜！

How did the diary of the Master’s servant’s come to be lost? At the beginning of the Cultural Revolution in 1966, my mother’s room was raided by the Red Guards, that comprises of middle school students in Beijing. They found the verdict sent by the court to my sister, Tian Ying, in 1958, which mentioned that she had been too deeply poisoned by the imperialist religion and had to undergo a long term of ideological reform, and so she was sentenced to twenty years’ imprisonment. The Red Guards gave my mother ten dollars, a few clothes, and some food, but they raided everything else, including the Bible and all of my father’s diaries. The Red Guards told me to take the initiative to hand over what should be handed over at home, so I went so far as to hand over to the Red Guards the photos of my father going to various meetings and studying in the U.S., as well as the testimonies of grace written by believers in various places. In those days, I had a nervous breakdown and almost died. The fact that I gave away so many materials and photos showed how low and pitiful my spirit was at that time!
